With "Bayonne la belle vie" gift vouchers , companies and works councils have discovered a new way of celebrating happy events of their employees.

Today, thanks to a favorable legislation, in particular towards the exemption from Urssaf social contributions, the French companies have began offering gift vouchers. More than a trend, it has become a small revolution. For companies and the Works Council of the Basque country, it is an quick, original and an cost saving way to reward their employees. There are no fees or minimum purchasing amounts.

Conditions of exemption: 3 rules be respected

1 The amount has to comply with workers entitlements: 

The total amount of gift tokens is exempted from Urssaf social contributions if it does not exceed 5 % of the monthly limit of Social Security which is in 2010: 144 € per employee, per event and per year. This threshold changes every year.
For example, companies are exempted from Urssaf social contributions on the amounts of the following gift tokens:

 For 1 event:
       -Ie. Christmas, employee limit :114€/employee/year
 For 2 events
       -ie. Mother's Day and Christmas, employee limit: 288 € / employee / year
 For 3 events
       -ie Mother's Day, Raise and Christmas, employee limit: 432 € / employee / year.
 For 4 events
       -ie Mother's Day, Raise, Christmas and 1 child to support, employee limit: 576 € / employee / year

2 The attribution of the gift token has to be in relation with one or several fallowing events:

Saint Catherine, Saint Nicolas,
Marriage, Pacs, Birthday,
Mother's Day, Father's Day,
Start of the school year (for every child until 19 completed years in the calendar year),
Christmas of the employees, Christmas of the children (for every child until 16 completed years in the calendar year),
Retirement.

3 Its use has to be determinated.

The use of gift token has to have a relation with the event for which he is attributed. It cannot be exchangeable against foodstuffs or some fuels.  Common luxury festive foodstuffs are allowed.

For childrens Christmases, the gift cheque will allow spending on items in relation to Christmas: toys, books, cds, leisure or sport equipement..

Examples:
Mother's Day: jewelry, flowers, a manicure
Father's Day: sporting goods, clothing
Marriage: meals, wedding rings
school or university Start: books, computers
